Stockpiling can be addicting and the thrill of a great deal can be intoxicating. It can be difficult to resist buying a favorite item when it goes on sale. But are you really saving money when you stockpile items? The answer to that question may surprise you.
4 Reasons to Quit Stockpiling Now
- It is ALWAYS better to hold on to your money
This is the ultimate stockpiling “ah-ha” moment! Never give away your money before you need to. Money is always better off sitting in a bank or even under a mattress. Either option is better than buying another product that will sit on your shelf collecting dust.
- It is easy to get sick of eating the same thing over and over
My nine-year-old is a PICKY eater. When we find something he likes…our first instinct is to stockpile it. The problem with that is most kids (and adults) get sick of eating the same thing over and over. They often decide they no longer like that food or they want to take a break from it. That is why it is always better to buy food in small packages. Small packages may cost a bit more, but they save you money because the food gets eaten and not wasted.
- You do not like a product anymore
How much money and time do you waste searching for beauty products that do what they say? There are way too many products in the market vying for our attention. Therefore, you should never have more than two of the same beauty products in your home. If you stick with this rule, you can always try the latest brands (guilt-free) when your two existing products are used up.
- Stockpiling hinders your Live Clutter Free journey
Most people love to stay in hotels because they are only filled with minimal items… one bottle of shampoo, one bar of soap, a bed, desk, chair, TV and maybe a refrigerator. Hotel life is the ultimate escape from our cluttered homes. But who says you can’t live like you are in a hotel at home? You can… BUT you need to stop stockpiling right now.
A Stockpiling Challenge
Challenge yourself to use up everything (that has not expired) in your existing stockpile. Once your pile is gone, never keep more than two of the same products in your home. Then enjoy the extra money in your pocket and the peace that comes from clutter free living.
